Hotel Saint Cecilia Kimono Robe

The Hotel Saint Cecilia indigo robe is custom made of soft 100% cotton indigo-dyed batik fabric and is fashioned in the spirit of the Japanese yukata or summer robe. The textile used is made using 2 printing techniques - block printing and batik. The paisley motif is applied first using hand-carved wooden blocks dipped in dye and pressed onto the fabric by hand. After drying, another set of blocks with the snowflake motif are dipped in wax and pressed onto the fabric and act as a resist. The entire piece of fabric is then dipped in dye so everything becomes blue, except for underneath the wax. The fabric is ironed to remove the wax, revealing the white ground, and portions of the paisley block print underneath. Made in a government-sponsored co-op in India, promoting indigenous weaving and dyeing techniques. Fabric and kimono are custom made for Hotel Saint Cecilia and designed by Bunkhouse. Unisex, one size fits all. Cold wash delicate, tumble dry low.
